Application Areas
Carbon Disulfide is an excellent solvent and chemical raw material, dissolving sulfur, phosphorus, rubber, resins, and fats. In rubber industry, it synthesizes vulcanizing agents, accelerators, and antioxidants for tires and rubber goods. In pesticides, it produces dithane fungicides, organophosphorus insecticides, and herbicides. In chemical fiber, it is a cellulose sulfonation solvent for viscose fiber and cellophane production. Also used as a flotation agent, fat extractant, pharmaceutical intermediate (azathioprine, dithio drugs), dye, electronic cleaner, and analytical reagent.
